SPM nanosolutions hs developed novel multifunctional magnetic nanosystems – called magnetoliposomes- that act as drug nanocarriers capable of integrating, synergistically, chemotherapy and magnetic hyperthermia for cancer therapy.

The nanosystem consists of a cluster of superparamagnetic nanoparticles covered by a thermo-sensible lipidic bilayer that encapsulates therapeutic cancer drugs.

By means of a permanent external magnetic field, the nanosystem can be magnetically guided to the tumor site and, allied the associated enhanced permeability and retention effect, selectively accumulated in tumors.

Once in the tumor, the activation of an alternate magnetic field will induce nanoparticles heat production leading to the lipid bilayer destabilisation, drug release and the selective cancers cells overheating.
